The 33rd edition of the Tour of the Gila will take place May 1-5, 2019. This is one of the most challenging stage races in North America.  As information on the 2019 becomes available, that information will be posted here. 

Here was some of race information from the April 18-22, 2018, event held in Silver City, New Mexico.

REGISTRATION:

Team Discounts: We are offering for the first time ever– Team Discounts.  If you are a USA Cycling team or a shop team and you plan on bringing 10 to 15 riders to the 2018 Tour of the Gila, then we will give you a discount.  The team discount is  10% off every team member’s entry fee.

 

SWAG BAGS:

At packet pick-up, every racer will be receiving a 2018 Tour of the Gila Swag Bag that will include a 2018 Tour of the Gila T-Shirt, a 2018 Tour of the Gila Pint Beer Glass and a 2018 Tour of the Gila Poster

The Races

UCI Men; UCI Women; Men 1,2; Men 3 and Master Men A: The 5-day stage race consists of 3 Road Races, an Individual Time Trial and a Criterium. The overall General Classification winner will be the rider with the lowest overall time for all the stages.

The format is as follows:
Stage 1: Silver City to Mogollon Road Race
Stage 2: The Inner Loop Road Race
Stage 3: Tyrone Individual Time Trials
Stage 4: Downtown Silver City Criterium
Stage 5: Gila Monster Road Race

Men 4,5; Master Men B and Women 3,4,5: The 4-day stage race consists of 2 Road Races, an Individual Time Trial and a Criterium. The overall General Classification winner will be the rider with the lowest time for all the stages.

Stage 1: The Inner Loop Road Race
Stage 2: Tyrone Individual Time Trials
Stage 3: Downtown Silver City Criterium
Stage 4: Gila Monster Road Race

Special Competitions

UCI Men: In addition to Individual Stage and General Classification prizes, there will be a Team General Classification competition. Teams must consist of 5 to 7 riders. No more than 7 riders per team. There will also be a Sprinter’s competition, a Climber’s competition and a U25 competition.

UCI Women: In addition to Individual Stage and General Classification prizes, there will be a Team General Classification competition. Teams must consist of 4 to 7 riders. No more than 7 riders per team. There will also be a Sprinter’s competition, a Climber’s competition and a U26 competition.

Men 3/35+: Men 3 racers who are 35+ will be eligible for the Men 3 overall prizes and a separate General Classification prize

Master Men A 40+/45+/50+/55+: Racers in the Master Men A event who are 45+ will be eligible for the Master Men A overall prizes and a separate 45+ General Classification prize. Racers who are 50+ will be eligible for the Master Men A overall prizes, the 45+ prizes and a separate 50+ General Classification prize. Racers who are 55+ will be eligible for the Master A overall prizes, the 45+ prizes, the 50+ prizes and a separate 55+ General Classification prize.

Master Men B 40+/50+/60+: Racers in the Master Men B event who are 50+ will be eligible for the Master Men B overall prizes and a separate 50+ General Classification prize. Racers who are 60+ will be eligible for the Master Men B overall prizes, the 50+ prizes, and a separate 60+ General Classification prize.

Men 4,5 /35+: Men 4,5 racers who are 35+ will be eligible for the Men 4,5 overall prizes and a separate General Classification prize.

Women 3,4,5 35+/45+: Racers in the Women 3,4,5 event who are 35+ will be eligible for the Women 3,4,5 prizes and a separate 35+ General Classification prize. Racers who are 45+ will be eligible for the Women 3,4,5 prizes, the 35+ prizes, and a separate 45+ General Classification prize.

Refunds

No refunds.

Support

NEUTRAL SUPPORT will be provided by Neutral Sans Frontières for the UCI races and support will be on hand at the Individual Time Trials and the Downtown Criterium. The amateur road races rely on wheel check-in. The Tour of the Gila has an excellent system to protect your wheels during the race.
Neutral hydration is provided in the feed zones of the road races.
Shuttles are available for the Mogollon Road Race, and the Inner Loop Road races for the Women 3,4,5, Men 4,5, and Master Men B.

HOST HOUSING
Many families in the Silver City area generously open up their homes during the race. If you are interested in the host housing program, you must have PAID

REGISTRATION before your request is considered, there is a non-refundable $10 fee per person to be placed on the housing list. Host housing fills quickly, so please make your reservation early.
