Martyn Pearson and Alexandra Olsen, the owners of Gila Hike & Bike in Silver City, were tragically killed in an automobile accident this past Friday,  October 28, on their way to a mountain bike race in Albuquerque.

 

Their sudden death has devastated all that knew them and especially the Silver City cycling community.  Martyn and Alex supported the Tour of the Gila with their financial support and their time.  They were the best of people.  They made Silver City a better place for all of us. 

 

A Go Fund Me page, https://gofund.me/2d0a96b9, has been setup to help support Martyn’s two children.  Going forward without Martyn and Alex is going to be a challenge.  Please consider contributing and thank you for your financial support.

 

This Saturday, November 5, there will be two memorial rides honoring Martyn and Alex:

 

A road ride, hosted by Dave Rutledge with Zia Velo, will leave from Gila Hike & Bike at 10:30am.  This ride will be an out and back on NM 15.

 

A mountain bike ride, hosted by Seth Bush with Zia Rides, will meet at 1:00pm at the Dragonfly Trailhead in Arenas Valley.
