Tour of the Gila is the only U.S. stage race sanctioned by the world governing body of cycling (UCI), and it is widely known for delivering big, “European-style” stage racing right here in Silver City, New Mexico. The UCI Men and UCI Women races are part of the UCI America Tour calendar and USA Cycling’s Pro Road Tour calendar.

Across five days, the UCI Men and UCI Women fields race a true stage race mix: road racing, an individual time trial, and a downtown criterium.

UCI Race Dates and Categories

Race dates: Wednesday, April 29 – Sunday, May 3, 2026

Fields: UCI Men, UCI Women

A UCI 2.2 road cycling stage race, Tour of the Gila is open to a mix of professional and development teams. Eligible teams include UCI Pro and Continental Teams, National teams, USA Cycling domestic elite teams, and regional/club teams.

Format: 5 days, 5 stages (3 road races, 1 individual time trial, 1 criterium)

Who Can Race the UCI Events

The UCI races are invitation-only.

• Teams may request an invitation from race organizers.
  • If you are a team manager or director and want to request an invitation, reach out to the Tour of the Gila organizers through the website contact options.
• Individual athletes must be on the roster of an invited team to race the UCI events.
• If you do not secure a roster spot on a team invited to the UCI races at Tour of the Gila, you may be able to enter the USA Cycling amateur categories. Get details here or register on BikeReg.

Host Housing and Travel

When teams get invited to participate in the Tour of the Gila UCI Men’s and Women’s races, the Tour of the Gila competition director will provide instructions on requesting host housing and communicating travel plans and needs.
